In most cases the HydroCom GmbH uses fiber reinforced polymers for producing extremely light and adaptable flow structures. The goal is not always the design of particularly stiff and strong structures but also adapting flow profiles subjected to external loads are needed. Using the fiber orientation these adaptive effect can be generated. So called „intelligent“ structures are created. Our tools for laminate calculation start with classic laminate and net theory for a generic design and end with a FE-analysis for more detailed verification. The evaluation is done layer by layer using modern failure criteria such the Puck-criterion. Using the given tools the placement of fabrics on complex 3D free formed surfaces can be simulated. These simulations lead to the corresponding tailoring. The cut material and related laminate plans are the basis for the Nc-controlled cutting and at the same time as a documentation for the customer for possible certification.
